Tom Sweeney
AMBASSADOR - TENNIS - WTA
Tom Sweeney is an Australian Chair Umpire working on the international tennis tour. He started at the age of 16 when an ITF event took place in his hometown of Benalla, Victoria. The club was in need of local line umpires and a passion for officiating grew.
As of the Australian summer of 2025, Tom has officiated at 55 Grand Slams (23 Australian Open, 8 French Open, 14 Wimbledon, 10 US Open), three Olympics (Rio, Tokyo and Paris), London Paralympics, Delhi Commonwealth Games and 28 Davis/BJCK Cup ties.
At the Australian Open, Tom served as the Chair Umpire for the 2023 Women’s Singles Final and has also officiated eight doubles finals. Tom has been a Chair Umpire for the WTA Tour (Women’s Tennis Association) since 2019.
