Alex Whetton

AMBASSADOR – AFL

Alex Whetton started umpiring in the non-AFL state of Brisbane, QLD in 2008. Quickly progressed through to state league level (NEAFL) and was the youngest QLD field umpire to debut in Round 2013 as a 17-year-old. In 2015 was given the opportunity to officiate in the NEAFL Grand Final between Aspley and Northern Territory. 2015 also resulted in me joining the AFL list as a rookie listed Umpire. After 3 years as a rookie, he was promoted to the Senior list in February of 2018 replacing Chris Kamolins (NOS Mentor) in the #19. Since his debut in round 7 Brisbane vs Collingwood on his home turf – The Gabba. Alex has since notched up 41 senior games with a long career in front of him.

By day, Alex is a mortgage broker of the new generation. He is energetic and passionate about working with clients to create finance experiences worth talking about, from buying your first home, up to more complex lending scenarios. He prides himself on his professionalism and commitment to transparency and integrity.

Inspired by innovation in our industry, Alex relishes the opportunity to create a client experience that provides a level of comfort and critical understanding from your first meeting, through to settlement and beyond.

Alex is another graduate of the National Officiating Scholarships and loves to challenge the predictable. He cannot wait to pass on some of his stories and strategies around his journey into the AFL.
